The goal of Grandpas and the Astronomy, is to share astronomical knowledge through recreational activities, while also observing the stars. In Mexico, there is no dedicated outreach program that is directed to the specific needs of seniors. Their dynamics and forms of knowledge appropriation are specific, and therefore must be addressed in a particular way. Grandpas and Astronomy is focused on the care of elderly people that reside in retirement homes and/or facilities that care for older adults. These activities are intended to be conducted over a period of 12 months, including two months for planning and two months for evaluation and reporting.
