13 September 2019
Haein Kim’s (South Korea) winning art entry in the 10-12 Age category of the IAU100 Moon Landing 50 Under One Moon Children’s Art Contest.
Over 400 entries were received from around the world as part of the ‘Under One Moon’ children’s art contest for IAU100’s Moon Landing 50 global project. Three winners have been selected.
Over one thousand moon-related activities in 128 countries worldwide were coordinated for the anniversary of the first human moon landing o and around 20-21 July 2019 as part of the IAU100 global project Moon Landing 50. To encourage the involvement of children in the celebrations, Moon Landing 50 established a special art contest for children. Children aged 5 to 12 were invited to produce a piece of artwork (drawn or painted) that represented the contest’s unifying theme of “Under One Moon”.
The contest received an overwhelming response. Over 400 entries were received from 28 countries. The applicable submitted artwork can be viewed in a special Flickr album on the IAU OAO page.
The selection committee, comprised of members of the IAU100 Secretariat and IAU C1 and C2 Commissions, are pleased to announce the three winners from each age category:
Age 5-6 Category winner: Iga Pietraszko of Poland
Age 7-9 Category winner: Agnieska Soltys of Poland
Age 10-12 Category winner: Haein Kim of South Korea
